TREES SUITABLE FOR PATCH AND TAP
1. Trees must be healthy with good canopy and without incidence of leaf diseases, panel and root diseases, and sufficiently manured at regular interval.
2. Most of modern clones, for example, RRIM 2000 Series, PB 300 and PB400 Series response well to this system.
3. Suitable age of rubber is more than ten years.
4. Bark in high level panel must be in good condition and the tree should not experience intensive stimulation.
CONDITION OF TAPPING PANEL AND BARK
1. In upward tapping it is important to ensure that at least half of the bark is in good condition and available.
2. In a downward tapping, it is important to ensure that the renewed bark is fully recovered and has sufficient thickness, smooth and with less injury.
METHOD OF FIXING PATCH AND TAP APPLICATOR
1. Open 1/8s tapping panel or 10.2cm length for download or upload tapping.
2. Clean and very lightly scrap the bark 7.5cm from edge of the tapping panel left of the tree and 15cm on top of tapping panel. The area to be cleaned is 10cm X 10cm.
3. Peel off the tape covering the sealant. With the tube aligned downward, the applicator is then placed on to the cleaned bark. Light pressing of the sealant is required for 10 seconds to ensure proper fixing of the PLITS applicator.
4. Gassing can be done immediately through using the canister. Precaution must be given to gassing process, only one or two presses of the canister is allowed to ensure that the applicator will not be over inflated.
5. The trees are ready for tapping after 24 hours of gassing.
